Discovering your voice

I had an awesome convo the other night with a Filipino-Kiwi media colleague about the new normal in information dissemination. We spoke of people who have suddenly discovered their voice using Zoom, StreamYard, Goggle Hangouts, Google Meet, Skype, Facetime, among many others. Social media has opened the flood-gates for people to go online and voice out their opinions, report on what they see, hear or feel, document whatever fancies them. This Covid-19 pandemic became fertile grounds not only for the virus but also for people who are vigilant and/or have an agenda to push. The traditional, normal gatekeepers from the huge, monstrous, mainstream media, no longer has the monopoly of media. It is not an open season for anyone who desires to do so. As for the quality of some or most of these so-called reporters, that is another story, for another day!
